What does "Qualifying" mean?

It means I've completed my Master's degree and met the College's education requirements, and I'm now completing my supervised practice hours toward full registration. I practise under the supervision of an approved clinical supervisor, which means your care has a second experienced set of eyes on it. I'm held to exactly the same professional and ethical standards as any registered therapist in Ontario.

How do I know if we're a good fit?

You won't know for certain from a website, which is why the first call is free. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to get a feel for whether you'd be comfortable talking to me. If it isn't a fit, I'll say so and help you find someone better suited. That happens sometimes and it's not a failure.

How long does therapy take?

It depends entirely on what you're working on. Some people come for six to eight sessions with a specific goal. Others stay longer. We'll talk about it openly, and you're never locked into anything.

How often would we meet?

Most people start weekly or every other week, then space sessions out as things improve. We'll find a rhythm that works for your life and your budget.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with a small number of legal exceptions that I'm required to explain to you before we begin. These involve situations where someone is at risk of serious harm. I'll go through all of it in our first session so you know exactly where you stand.

What if I've never done therapy before?

Most of my clients haven't. You don't need to prepare anything or know how to explain what's wrong. Showing up is genuinely enough.

Do you work with children?

Yes, from age seven. With younger clients I use play-based and creative approaches, and I keep parents appropriately involved while still protecting the child's sense that this is their space.
